The conference is free for all to attend upon registration. We are looking forward to seeing all of you on zoom!

The Conference will run as a live Zoom Webinar only. It will not be recorded.

Below you can find some useful information concerning the structure of the conference and technical instructions:

General Structure of the Sessions:

All the participants of each session should be already online at least 20 minutes before their session starts, so that they have the time to check the microphones, the web camera and talk with the chair about the procedure. All the speakers and chairs of the conference will enter the platform as attendees and they will be upgraded to panelists by the host only during their session.

Each conference day incorporates two or three different sessions and a keynote lecture. Papers of each session follow a general chronological order. Each oral presentation lasts 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for questions and transition to the next talk. The chair will inform the speaker when there are 5 minutes and 1 minute left.

All poster presentations will be uploaded on the CRE official website and they will be visible throughout the conference. You can visit the site and read posters upon your convenience. In the poster session, which will take place on Saturday 15 May, each participant will have the opportunity to answer questions regarding their poster (5 minutes per participant according to the programme).

A special moment of each CRE conference is of course the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will take place in the last day of the conference. During the meeting both speakers and attendees have the chance to attend the proposals of candidate Universities and decide through their vote which is going to host the next CRE.

All participants and speakers can also vote for new members for the Permanent Committee. The Current Research in Egyptology (CRE) Permanent committee is looking to recruit up to 3 new members from May 2021, one of whom will act as webmaster.

Raising Hand

Q&A

The question & answer (Q&A) feature for webinars allows attendees to ask questions during the webinar, and for the panelists, co-hosts, and host to answer their questions.

They can either reply back to you via text in the Q&A window or answer your question live.

To ask a question:

  1. Type your question into the Q&A box. Click Send.
  2. If the host replies via the Q&A, you will see a reply in the Q&A window. The host can also answer your question live (out loud). You will see a notification in the Q&A window if the host plans to do this.

Questions will be asked by the hosts, if the time is available, but of course not all questions can be answered. If your question is not answered, you can directly contact the speaker at the end of the session via email.

Some Webinar Etiquette Tips

All participants and attendees are kindly requested to show respect to all. The host has the right to remove anyone who shows inappropriate behaviour. Please, be sure that your questions are concise and accurate. Personal or irrelevant questions won’t be answered.  Please, try to use the chat for initial greetings and comments relevant to the session and not for “gossip” during the lectures.
